It is nearly time to pivot away from esoteric practice led research.

Autumn brings changes and I feel there are new artistic domains to explore.

I have spent the past two years working upon my artistic practice and considering its contextual academic underpinnings in detail. This has unearthed innovative avenues of inquiry and experimental techniques of mark making.

Contemplating dystopian futures and the collective societal ‘Shadow’ of contemporary culture has been tough and I am very cognisant of the jeopardies associated with ‘vicarious traumatisation’.

The maxim by the French writer François de La Rochefoucauld, “Le soleil ni la mort ne se peuvent regarder en face”

(“You cannot stare straight into the face of the sun, or death”) was elaborated further by Irvin D.Yalom. 1.

This seems a useful dictum to bear in mind at present.

So, “what’s next?” you may ask.

My answer is, conveyed in my usual mischievous manner, “you’ll have to wait and see”.
